Role Description

The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) at the University of York is recruiting a motivated Grade 6 Research Fellow in Health Economics and Evidence Synthesis.

CRD is an academic research department (https://www.york.ac.uk/crd) that specialises in and is at the forefront of evidence synthesis and health technology assessment. Our systematic reviews and other evidence synthesis projects span a broad range of health and public health areas. They provide best evidence to inform policy and practice decisions and are underpinned by a programme of methodological development and commitment to knowledge exchange.

CRD is a friendly and supportive workplace that is part of a wider health and social care research community within the University of York. We embrace hybrid and flexible working patterns, enabling staff to work partly remotely (within the UK) according to project needs and their preferences. We value diversity, and are committed to equality of opportunity and fostering an inclusive culture where we can all be ourselves.

The successful applicant will contribute to CRD’s research activities in the area of health technology assessment (HTA) and economic evaluation, working mainly on team-based (HTA) projects commissioned under our NIHR Technology Assessment Reviews (TAR) programme. This work informs National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) decisions about which new drugs and technologies are approved for use in the NHS. They will also contribute to evidence synthesis projects more broadly across CRD research programmes.

Required skills, experience & qualification

Applications are welcome from candidates with a Masters-level qualification in health economics or other quantitative subjects, such as applied statistics or mathematics and preferably a PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant topic. They should have comprehensive knowledge of health economics and cost-effectiveness analysis and experience in economic evaluation including decision analytic modelling. Detailed knowledge of HTA methods and a good understanding of systematic review and meta-analysis are also expected. They must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and with stakeholders. Further training and career development will be supported.

This is a full-time position, but we will also consider applicants who wish to work part-time provided that this is at least 60% of a whole-time equivalent (3 days per week).

Interview date: November 2024

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive – a place where we can ALL be ourselves.

We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
