Applications are invited to apply for the above role to provide specialist and housekeeping support to assist technical staff, academic staff, researchers, and undergraduates within the School of Life Sciences, to enable and ensure the safe and effective operation of research, teaching and laboratory activities.
We are seeking candidates with good communication and organisational skills, those who can demonstrate a methodical approach to work to achieve set deadlines and high standards, whilst working effectively under pressure. The role will be varied involving housekeeping support, transporting glassware, waste and consumables to and from research labs regularly throughout the day whilst also providing specialist technical support to research teams by undertaking insect & fish husbandry, preparing complex media and solutions, and routine care and maintenance of communal equipment.
The role holder will have a good standard of education with a minimum of two A-levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualifications (HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds), plus some experience in a relevant technical/scientific role or considerable experience in a same/similar role.
Please note that candidates must be able to lift and move objects as this role will involve transporting waste, consumables and parcels regularly throughout the day. Previous experience in a laboratory environment would be desirable but not essential.
The post is a permanent, full-time contract (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
