The Department of Design Engineering and Mathematics is seeking to expand its provision in Automation and Mechatronics and is looking to appoint a full time Lecturer in Mechatronics. This role will suit a colleague who would welcome innovation and teamwork with a strong student facing role who can combine excellent teaching, learning, research and knowledge transfer. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable commitment to practice-led teaching, learning and assessment to help expand our portfolio of courses with their expertise in automation and mechatronics related areas. We pride ourselves in our pedagogic approach which reflects industry practices and prepares our graduates for careers in this rapidly evolving important area of engineering.

The Department of Design Engineering and Mathematics has a teaching portfolio that includes Product Design, Design Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Building Information Modelling and Mathematics.

This is a dynamic and a progressive department, flourishing with its innovative curriculum and practice. Research in the department focuses on Engineering, Modelling and Optimisation, Robotics and Digital Twin research. The department also supports the London Digital Twin Research Centre (www.dt.mdx.ac.uk) and its broad research activity which has become one of the leading centres in the UK. The department has a sustained network of industry engagement and has built several strategic partnerships, some spanning over three decades. Our partnerships also include membership of industry consortiums as well as organisations championing our sectors such as GAMBICA and WorldSkills UK. The department is highly active in its outreach programmes as well as organising national and international competitions related to our subject areas. These will offer the right candidate significant opportunities to develop themselves, their subject interest within as well as across the departments and with our industry partners.
