An exciting opportunity has arisen within the University of Lincoln’s School of Engineering and Physical Sciences where we are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching subjects such as control systems and a background related to the energy sector would be beneficial.

The University of Lincoln is an ambitious higher education institution. We are one of a select group of universities to achieve the top Gold rating overall and in both aspect ratings for student experience and student outcomes in the national Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023. We are also committed to growing student numbers, using new partnerships with external organisations and innovative forms of programme delivery.

Following a restructure of the academic units in the College of Health and Science in the summer of 2024, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of School of Engineering and Physical Sciences in an area bringing together the previous schools of Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics & Physics. The new School comprises around 1550 students, of which around 30% are postgraduate (PGT and PGR) and around 90 academic staff and 20 researchers.

The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences is a diverse community of students and staff who work together to further knowledge and understanding in a broad range of engineering, computer science, mathematics and physics disciplines. Within the engineering aspect this includes Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering across a spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. Our research includes several important research groupings including “L-CAS” Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems Research.

This post is on the Teaching and Research (T&R) pathway. You should be particularly interested in contributing to the diversity and excellence of our community through these avenues of teaching and research. Expertise in the areas of control systems would be particularly welcomed.

Responsibilities for the post include delivery, assessment and support of learners from across the portfolio. Successful applicants will be able to support the School’s Engineering curricula and contribute to student mentoring activities.

If you would like further information or an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity, please contact Alex Borman, Acting Head of School of Engineering and Physical Sciences ABorman@lincoln.ac.uk
