The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 573 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have recently been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, demonstrating that we are not only one of the best universities in the United Kingdom, but one of the best universities for the world. Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.
The Community Support Officer will further the Student & Academic Services' mission and contribute to improved student inclusion and belonging across the communities and campuses.
This new post will sit within the Student Experience & Community team within Student & Academic Services. The post-holder will work closely with colleagues across the directorate as well as External Relations, Estates, College, and School Professional Service teams. It will also work closely with student representatives and groups.
This position requires a strong understanding of student lived experiences, varying cohort characteristics and dynamics, variations of the student journey by study level and mode, plus excellent communication, collaboration, event and project management skills.
The post-holder will manage and support activities that aim to increase the sense of connectivity and togetherness amongst students, help to lessen othering, and contribute to reducing the systematic, social, and cultural barriers that diminishes empathy and degrades belonging for all students, but with a focus on specific groups (International, Mature, Commuting, and Disabled).
