The College of Health, Psychology and Social Care has a clear vision – to make a REAL difference to the lives of individuals, families and communities within our region. To be the University of choice for our Health and Social Care partners’ education needs across the region; and to provide an excellent student experience, delivered by highly credible and well qualified lecturers.
As part of the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care, the School of Nursing and Midwifery is home to some of the University of Derby's most popular degrees. Across undergraduate and postgraduate level, we have a variety of courses to offer.
Many on our academic team are active researchers working hard to advance knowledge in different areas of healthcare and the human sciences. Research topics related to Midwifery include ‘how air pollution could affect the growth of the placenta’ and the experience of mothers who breastfeed beyond infancy. Our researchers integrate their findings into their teaching and examine how this might affect service users.
