Support and Wellbeing Officer (fixed term)

University of Nottingham - Student Wellbeing

Location: Nottingham
Salary: £28,152 to £34,500 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 1st October 2024
Closes: 16th October 2024
Job Ref: REG379724

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Support & Wellbeing Service, part of the Student and Campus Life Division, as a Support and Wellbeing Officer. Two posts are available and will both involve supporting students from different academic schools, based at our various campus locations. This is a key frontline and challenging role providing comprehensive practical and emotional support to students experiencing difficulties and offering advice and signposting to other internal and external services as appropriate.

The Support and Wellbeing Team is a large team split into component sub-teams, based around academic faculties and/or campus locations. While the role holder will be embedded, line managed and supported as a member of the Support & Wellbeing Team, they will also work closely with the academic schools that their support is linked to. The role holder will build strong professional networks with the Senior Tutors, Personal Tutors and others in their specific schools, which will be used to disseminate information, share best practice and inform school approaches to complex cases.

Students can be referred into the service via academic staff or may choose to self-refer. Our support can be accessed in a variety of ways with students being advised via face-to-face appointments, video calls, telephone appointments, or by email. An important part or the role involves advising students with difficult or challenging circumstances, helping them to understand university policies and processes and referring them on, or escalating issues to other specialist services.

You will be highly motivated, organised and an excellent communicator who can demonstrate sound judgment under pressure. We welcome applications from people committed to delivering a high quality, professional service to our students and academics, and have a pro-active and flexible attitude to work. Further details of the role can be found in the Role Profile.

We welcome applications from everyone and value the varied perspectives and experiences that a diverse team can bring. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people who are currently underrepresented in wellbeing support in the UK, such as those from racially minoritized backgrounds.

Both posts are offered on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2025. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week), which typically involves a minimum of four days per week on campus with one day a week home working. These roles may involve working at more than one campus location. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Jonathan Kavanagh via email Jonathan.Kavanagh@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
