About the role
This post is 0.6 fte, 22 hours/ week.
We are seeking an organised, practical and cheerful individual to join the RAI’s professional services team as Operations Assistant.
This is a varied and interesting role supporting a friendly, busy team and ensuring the smooth running of the RAI building. You will be responsible for frontline administration and operations, dealing with visitors and contractors, assisting with facilities management and health and safety, and providing some cover for the Vere Harmsworth Library enquiry desk which is located within our building. You will also support our academic programme with tasks such as website content management and setting up for events, as well as providing general administrative support to other team members.
The RAI is Oxford’s centre for the study of the United States and its place in the world. Every year we host a programme of more than 100 events which attract leading scholars and public figures from across the world. We have a lively and welcoming academic community made up of a small administration team plus Oxford post holders, early career researchers, graduate students, librarians, and visiting fellows. In this role you will be at the centre of this activity and play a key part in making everything happen.
About you
A positive and proactive attitude is imperative and you will have the ability to prioritise effectively. You should be flexible and have the ability to work well in a team environment as well as having the competence and confidence to work independently. You will have good IT skills and experience of facilities management and general administration. Ideally you will have experience of website editing with content managements systems, or the desire to learn to do this.
