Communications Officer, Young Lives.
 
Young Lives, based in the Oxford Department of International Development, is seeking to recruit a Communications Officer.  The postholder will work closely with Young Lives’ Communications Manager and use multiple communications channels to promote the study’s research findings, policy advice and methods to key audiences.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Communications Manager to deliver the Young Lives communications strategy, taking the lead on specific projects and outputs.
  • Lead on Young Lives’ social media strategy and delivery; plan and develop creative content according to channel best practice to build engagement and reach.
  • Develop, deliver and promote Young Lives digital content including (but not limited to) videos, infographics and the e-newsletter to increase Young Lives’ visibility and profile.
  • Maintain and evolve Young Lives international website; in conjunction with the wider team and using Google Analytics, identify, commission and edit new pieces; provide support to country staff to maintain and develop the Ethiopian and India websites.
  • Support the Communications Manager to ensure Young Lives projects a strong, clear, and consistent image and maintain a branding strategy.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to promote Young lives to internal and external audiences and develop a suite of up to date publicity materials including to support Young Lives fundraising efforts.
  • Monitor, track and evaluate communications activities, and work collaboratively with the wider team to meet reporting requirements on the impact and reach of Young Lives work.
  • Support in person, on line or hybrid Young Lives events as required with logistical assistance from the Administration Officer.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Young Lives Communications Manager.
The successful candidate will have strong all-round communications skills, especially writing and editing, including ability to distil and summarise key messages in clear, non-specialist language. They will also have significant experience of using social media channels for research communications. They will have the bbility to create digital content using Adobe CC. Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to prioritise work to meet competing deadlines are essential for this role.
