About the department

At the University of Gloucestershire, we are committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community where every student feels valued and empowered. Our Libraries and Student Support department plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience, offering comprehensive support services that address personal and social needs.

Our Accommodation team is passionate about providing personalised support and creating an environment that encourages growth, learning, and resilience. We believe that a strong residential community is crucial to student success, and we are dedicated to making our halls of residence more than just a place to live — we aim to create a home away from home.

The role of Residential Support Adviser is critical in ensuring that our residential students feel supported, connected, and engaged throughout their university journey.

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Residential Support Adviser to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about student welfare and community building and is eager to make a meaningful impact on the student experience at the University of Gloucestershire. The role provides specialist support and pastoral care to students living in Halls of Residence, providing a high-quality customer facing service to residents.

Duties will include monitoring and supporting Halls students alongside creating an inclusive and integrated community and promoting a positive student experience. You can make a real difference, including planning and coordinating events for Halls students. The role also involves working with Halls students to ensure they adhere to the Halls of Residence Terms and Conditions.

The successful candidate will be a flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual, willing to go the extra mile when needed.  With existing experience of working with young people, candidates should also possess excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the confidence and initiative to manage a variety of situations.

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in students' lives, contributing to a positive and supportive university environment.

If you are a dedicated professional with a passion for student support and a commitment to fostering a positive community, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding role.

The University is committed to building a diverse and inclusive staff community and welcomes applications from currently under-represented sections of our workforce. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, guaranteeing an interview to everyone who meets the definition of disability set out in the Equality Act 2010 and the essential criteria contained within the person specification.
