The role
The role is based in the Library’s Content team, which is responsible for the purchase and accession of new books, serials and other materials. It is also responsible for obtaining resources required by readers that are not held by Library Services, and for meeting requests from other libraries to have copies of items from our library stock (Inter-Library Loans). The team manages the University’s Resource Lists service, which includes responsibility for scanning material for teaching.
This role is a fixed-term contract until 04/04/2025, working part-time 24.5 hours per week. The work days are flexible within Monday-Friday but would normally consist of 3 full days and 1 half day.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for processing inter-library loan requests, submitting and reconciling payments for Library resources (purchases and subscriptions), handling and checking-in print resources, and contributing to the effective running of the Resource List service. The role includes regular manual handling processes (including unpacking deliveries and pushing trolleys of books), and the successful candidates must be prepared to spend a variable portion of their working week at the Library’s office in central Bristol.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, possess strong IT and communication skills, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to work across multiple software systems. They will be expected to operate independently much of the time while maintaining a high standard of work. The candidate must be flexible and prepared to split their time between several sites including the Library’s office and the on-campus libraries.
