The Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub is established with the support of NHS England and in collaboration with our regional NHS Integrated Care Boards as a centre of excellence in health and care-related research and workforce development. It is an exciting, state of the art, research facility in a clinical setting, which will help transform health, wellbeing and care in the region and strengthen our connection with the community and our sector partners.
A range of community-facing services, student placement opportunities, workforce development, training and research will be offered in a variety of settings through the Hub, both on the Campus and in the community.
We are looking to recruit and enthusiastic Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team working within the new, innovative Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub at the University of Essex. The successful candidate will work with our service-users with acquired language and communication disorders resulting from stroke, head injury and other neurological conditions. They will also offer clinical supervision and contribute to the assessment of students on clinical placement within the hub, including SLT students and wider MDT professions, developing the future workforce through creative and innovative opportunities.
The job role will provide experience in working with complex neurological presentations as well as offering regular CPD opportunities and personal development with a focus on wider workforce development.
The post-holder will provide assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions to service-users with acquired language and communication disorders, using evidence-based practice. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatments, and work closely with other disciplines in devising joint-working programmes for individuals and groups. You will also liaise with relevant care professionals and agencies and external partners.
The successful candidate will develop their clinical educator and supervision skills as they provide high-quality clinical placement opportunities for student practitioners at the University of Essex.

Qualifications required
The successful candidate will have professional experience or practice equivalent to relevant doctoral level research degree or have or be close to completion of PhD.
You will also possess Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate. A HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist is also essential for this post.
