Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: University campus, Hatfield 

This post is part of a team at the University of Hertfordshire to lead on supporting staff and students to have the resources, skills and knowledge to develop and excel in an increasingly digital world. 

Main duties and responsibilities

The IT Trainer (Digital Skills Developer) will work as part of a team to assist in the design and delivery of digital skills training, aimed at staff and students. You will support the execution of the Digital Capabilities Strategy. You will also support the development of a training needs analysis and the promotion and communication of training opportunities. 

Skills and experience required

You will have proven experience in supporting the design and delivery of live synchronous and/or in-person training sessions across one or more areas of digital skills development to small and large audiences. You will also have proven experience in supporting the development of online self-study course materials that are high in quality, engaging and effective.

You will have knowledge of tools used to assess training needs.  You will have an ability to identify and apply common technologies, including those used in higher education institutions, the workplace or the home environment such as Microsoft, Adobe, Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and interactive multimedia tools. Knowledge of trends and emerging themes relating to digital transformation and digital skills development is desirable. 

Excellent communication and strong organisational skills are essential qualities for this post, along with a passion for developing others.

Qualifications required

Minimum of a Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject (Education, Educational Technology, Digital Technology, Multimedia, Information Technology) or proven experience of doing a similar job at an appropriate level
