Researcher

Sheffield Hallam University - School of Sport & Physical Activity

Location: Sheffield
Salary: £30,487 to £37,099 per annum, dependent on experience
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 10th September 2024
Closes: 18th September 2024
Job Ref: 107485

As a researcher, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced researchers in a multidisciplinary team to deliver a mixed methods evaluation in the areas of ‘Workforce Wellbeing’, ‘Live Well’ and ‘Patient Experience and Outcomes’ to support the work of NHS Charites Together.

Ideally, you will have a broad range of experience of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and may be expected to design research tools, conduct literature reviews, deliver on projects, collect and analyse data (e.g. surveys, interviews, and focus groups), and write reports for a variety of different audiences.

We believe in enabling our staff to develop and grow their own research interests alongside the Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Public Health (PAWPH) and SHU mission. This may involve highlighting funding opportunities, leading on smaller projects and contributing to bids, publications and conference communications.

The research group currently works in a hybrid environment, where researchers are expected to be on-site when their duties require it, and to work from where they work best at other times.

Wellbeing is part of who we are as a group, and we actively encourage staff to lead by example and look after their own health and wellbeing.

The Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Public Health (PAWPH) Research Group

The PAWPH research group is part of the School of Sport and Physical Activity (SOSPA).  It has strong links with, and is based at, the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC), a world-class research facility dedicated to improving health and wellbeing through movement.

PAWPH has an established track record of working on impactful projects in the area of physical activity, wellbeing and public health, producing world-leading impact case studies in the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (https://www.shu.ac.uk/research/excellence/research-excellence-framework/impact-case-studies).

If you are offered this post, you may be subject to a standard or enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (dependent on projects).  A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.

If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the TPS and remain in the USS.   Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

For this job, we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.
