ABOUT US

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

ABOUT THE POST

This is a fixed-term hourly paid position for 12 months.

The School wishes to recruit a Research Associate to work on a new project titled ‘Medication brand changes in hormone therapy for breast cancer. A community pharmacy intervention development to improve patients’ adherence and quality of life. ENABLE’. The project is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) through its Research for Patient Benefit programme.

The project aims to co-produce with breast cancer patients and pharmacists an intervention to improve medication brand change consultations for women with breast cancer in community pharmacy settings, and assess the acceptability of the intervention to patients and pharmacists.

The Research Associate will play a vital role in this research project aimed at developing an evidence, theory, and person-based intervention and optimisation study. The post holder, with support from the Work Package leads, will conduct a scoping review of the literature and employ semi-structured interviews to gather insights into Community pharmacists and breast cancer patients’ perspectives, preferences and behaviours related to hormone therapy generic switching.

You will join an enthusiastic interdisciplinary research team led by Professor Yolanda Eraso (Director of the Health and Behaviour Research Centre). This role presents a unique opportunity to work collaboratively in primary care with community pharmacists, patients, and breast cancer charity partners within an interdisciplinary research team. The post will suit someone with methodological interests in intervention co-design and behaviour change, and a desire to develop patient-centred approaches that could improve adherence to medication and quality of life with direct patient benefit.

For an informal discussion, please contact Professor Yolanda Eraso (y.eraso@londonmet.ac.uk).

Closing Date: 30 September 2024

Interviews due to be held week commencing 07 October 2024
