The Mitchell Centre for Social Network Analysis has an exciting opportunity for a Social Network Analyst to join our research team.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate on a full-time appointment for 18 months to join the project “Gender inequalities: the role of social networks in gendered interactions and social structures” funded by ESRC responsive mode: secondary data analysis.
The main goal of this project is to identify the social network mechanisms linking gendered micro-interactions to the macro-inequalities that systematically frame opportunities and constraints for men and women.
Specifically, we aim to:
The project will capitalise on the large amount of data publicly accessible for which the information on social networks and the characteristics of individuals (i.e. gender) embedded in these networks is available. We want to focus on four research domains:
The Research Associate will have expertise in statistical analysis of social networks like multilevel analysis, Exponential Random Graph Models, Linear and logistic mixed effects regression models, Autologistic Actor Attribute Models, and will be able to conduct meta-analysis of their results to test if results distribute heterogeneously, i.e. in different countries, affluent vs deprived schools and neighbourhoods, or across different type of licit and illicit organizations.
The appointment will start on the 1st of April 2025 and the Research Associate will be based in the Department of Sociology.
What you will get in return:
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
