Applications are invited for the role of Research Fellow as part of the ERC Advanced ‘PEACERETURN’ project, led by Professor Neophytos Loizides, in the Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) at the University of Warwick. The project, which will run for five years, focuses on victims of forced displacement and their decisions to return (or not) to their pre-conflict communities. Professor Loizides and colleagues from the University of Kent, the University of Cyprus, and Sabanci University, seek to understand why the proportion of actual returnees worldwide has been in significant decline in the past three decades despite the growing consensus among governments, international NGOs, and often victims of displacement themselves of the value of peaceful voluntary return. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead academic papers and work collaborative with an international team of award-winning scholars in the field of conflict, forced migration and gender studies.

About You  

The research fellow will undertake research under the PI’s guidance and will receive appropriate training on methods from the PI, the Senior Team Members, and externally. The research fellow will co-author with the PI and Senior Staff members, lead own project publications and play a significant part in disseminating the results of the project at conferences and policy reports. The research fellow should have expertise in quantitative and experimental survey methods and academic background in one or more of the following areas comparative politics, law, social psychology or a related discipline.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.
