About the College

The School of Nursing at the University of Derby is one of the largest Schools within the University. As part of the school the Discipline area of Children’s, Midwifery and Professional Practice is the overarching Discipline. Specifically, you will support the programme teams in the delivery of the undergraduate and master’s programmes in Children's Nursing. As part of this discipline there is opportunity to work with the interprofessional team and share expertise and learning. We continuously strive to provide education that is responsive and reflective, with close links to practice partners, industry and support our civil footprint. We are passionate about our students, ensuring they have an enriched learning opportunity to help them achieve their full potential. As part of this dynamic team, you will be offered a mentorship programme, peer “buddy”, as well as full induction to the University.  

About the role

An opportunity has arisen in our Children’s nursing team and we are looking for an experienced clinician/academic to join the team. This part-time role would support the programme teams in the delivery of the undergraduate and master’s programmes in Children's Nursing. We are looking for a 0.4 FTE Nurse to join our team.

You will teach and assess the Children Nursing programme based on Future Nurse standards and approved by Nursing and Midwifery Council. In addition, the post you will work with programme leader and head of discipline to develop and deliver an innovative and flexible range of learning and teaching materials in a relevant subject area or across modules that provide high quality, accessible learning opportunities and an exceptional student experience in line with the University’s strategic objectives, ensuring that employability and ‘real-world’ learning are at the heart of the curriculum. You will engage in research which influences leading edge practice, informs and inspires the research-led curriculum and teaching and contributes to continuing subject expertise and contribution to the REF.

You will join a highly committed and expanding team that provides a range of degree and postgraduate programmes in the school of Nursing and Midwifery with high professional standing and currency across the sector.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will;

  • Be registered with the NMC as a Nurse or Midwife
  • Hold a degree in a relevant subject discipline, or equivalent qualification
  • Be experienced in your own professional discipline with the ability to develop new knowledge and understanding within the field
  • Have excellent communication skills 
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders
