Clinical Skills Facilitator

The School of Health and Life Sciences is seeking to recruit a term time Clinical Skills Facilitator on the Paisley Campus who will introduce innovative techniques into areas of academic delivery with specific attention to development and delivery of clinical skills, simulated activities, and interprofessional simulation.

These are new positions that will contribute to the development and implementation of immersive learning and simulation facilities within the School of HLS.

You will contribute to the organising and delivery of innovative approaches to simulated learning and clinical skills within pre-registration nurse education and contribute to the development and delivery of simulated learning in our wider healthcare teaching portfolio.

You will be educated to degree level or with equivalent experience in a similar role demonstrated through relevant and practical work experience. Extensive practical experience as well as theoretical and practical knowledge in Clinical Skills & Simulation is essential. Being a registered nurse/midwife/paramedic/allied health professional is desirable as is demonstratable experience as a facilitator in a clinical simulation facility with a variety of simulation modalities.

Good written, verbal and online communication skills are essential, as is the ability to explain technical details in a non-technical manner to academic colleagues. A flexible and adaptable approach to work is crucial with the ability to work in a team environment, supporting colleagues and sharing expertise.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Educated to degree level (in a discipline relevant to the role) or with equivalent experience in a similar role demonstrated through relevant and practical work experience (essential).
  • May have a professional qualification relevant to their area of work, gained through either a postgraduate qualification or through membership of a related professional body.
  • Experience of planning and organising the activities of self and/or others
  • Planning and carrying out demonstration sessions supported by documents and handouts.
  • Experience of the delivery of evidence-based clinical skills facilitation and practical supervision.
  • Experience of working with relevant specialised processes, systems and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) to conduct effective relationships and the ability to interact effectively with people at different levels.
