As a member of the university nursery team, you will play an essential role in supporting the children in our pre-school room to help them to develop their early skills and confidence.

Working 7.5 hour shifts between 8.15am-5.45pm on a rota basis, you will be working in a team of 4 staff and 24 children aged between 3 and 4 years. You will be a key person to a small group of children and will build a close relationship with these children and their families. Your responsibilities will include making observations on children’s play to inform your assessments of their development. Planning new and exciting activities to support the children’s learning and to enable them to reach their potential and preparing them for their move onto school. You will also be expected to participate in all activities with the children, including developing their independence and supporting their personal care.

We are increasingly welcoming children with additional needs and, ideally, you will have some experience of working with children who need a little more input to help them reach their potential.

This role will require a enhanced DBS check with child’s barred list.

About You  

You will be, at least, a level 2 qualified Early Years Practitioner, although persons with level 3 and above qualifications will be welcomed. Your qualification must be recognised by the DfE on the approved qualifications list. You will have a proven record of excellence in working with children aged 3 & 4 years, having previously worked with this age group. You will be an innovative and accomplished practitioner.

Proactive and resourceful, you will be a highly organised team player with excellent communication skills who is able to build relationships with children and their parents. You will also be able to demonstrate a willingness to participate in continuing professional development.
