University of Southampton - Alumni & Support Engagement

Location: Southampton
Salary: £29,605 to £31,396 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 28th August 2024
Closes: 23rd September 2024
Job Ref: 2839624AD

At the University of Southampton, our aim is to change the world for the better by bringing together academic research, creativity, and knowledge for a collaborative and impactful approach. We care about humanity's challenges and support others on both local and global scales.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR) team at the University of Southampton, delivering strategic content to our alumni and supporter community.

Working alongside a passionate team, you will support the communications function within ODAR by creating, managing, delivering, and evaluating Alumni and Supporter engagement content across multiple channels to strengthen relationships with university alumni and supporters.

You will be responsible for activities such as

  • taking ownership of our regular social media activity
  • coordinating photoshoots and working with videographers to develop compelling video content
  • supporting digital advertising campaigns
  • managing our regular alumni newsletter
  • supporting our email campaigns
  • ensuring all our communications pieces fit within our brand guidelines.

You will join at a pinnacle time as we are planning our biggest ever £100m fundraising & engagement campaign, and you will be part of the team working on the communications for this ground-breaking project.

About you

You’ll have a strong understanding of communications and marketing, with a passion for creating strong content.

Your communication skills will be exemplary, as will your ability to work well with people at all levels. You need to be proactive, seeking out stories to deliver timely, relevant content to our alumni and supporters.

You will be confident and outgoing, engaging with our community - whether filming interviews with researchers, interacting with alumni on social media, or supporting fundraising projects by creating content around students and alumni.

With strong interpersonal skills, you will prioritise and manage conflicting demands. Your work will help us engage our alumni community and raise funds for life-changing research. If you care about making a difference, this role is for you.

About us

We are planning our first University-wide fundraising and engagement campaign. Together, we aim to engage more alumni and supporters to change the world. With full support from university leadership, we are growing our team.

We seek people with intellectual curiosity and diverse ideas. We welcome colleagues from all backgrounds to join our inclusive team. Every day will be different; you will meet incredible people, and the rewards will be immense.

This could be a career-defining opportunity. Help us change the world. Join us.

Thank you for your interest in joining our team.
