Location: Meridian House, Hatfield

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Technical Officer to join our team, coordinating and enhancing our technical spaces and facilities to support our students and academic staff. In this role, you will oversee and manage technical spaces, ensuring the smooth running of practical classes and other teaching activities. You will collaborate with academic and other technical staff from across the University to enhance teaching and clinical simulation within the School of Health and Social Work. 

We are looking for someone with proven experience in managing technical spaces, knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well with other staff and students. Main duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities include equipment setup, troubleshooting, demonstrating proper use and delivering support during teaching sessions as needed. Supporting academic staff in effective equipment use both within and outside teaching sessions is integral to the role.

The successful candidate will also take part in clinical simulation scenarios as either a simulated service user or family member, enhancing the realism of the session, for which full support will be given.

The successful applicant will actively contribute to the development and application of teaching to facilitate student skill acquisition, utilizing effective approaches to learning and teaching.

Health and Safety is also a key part of this role, ensuring that practical classes are run in a safe way and equipment and facilities are well maintained.

Skills and experience required

This position requires experience in the provision of technical support and the delivery and support of clinical teaching facilities, complemented by knowledge of the requirements of Clinical Simulation. Knowledge and experience of working within a Higher Education Institution is advantageous.

Qualifications required

An HND or degree or equivalent qualifications in a relevant subject matter or equivalent proven in-service experience either as a clinical practitioner or in a technical role in education.
