Background

The City Law School is committed to providing education and training for students intending to enter the legal services industry. It has a professional education pedigree that dates back over 100 years, and is modernising its programmes to meet the needs of Law students who will be entering professional life in the second quarter of the 21st Century. The City Law School offers undergraduate and postgraduate Law degrees, the Bar Vocational Studies programme, the Solicitors Practice programme, and post-qualification Continuing Professional Development.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  • Make a significant contribution to the educational activities of the School, ensuring education is of high quality.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant research activities within the school and undertake scholarly activities designed to enhance education.
  • Participate in activities related to enterprise and where relevant.
  • Undertake administrative or management responsibilities.
  • Undertake other duties within the scope of the role as requested by the Head of Department.

Person Specification

Person specification:

  • First Degree in Law or Degree together with a Graduate Diploma in Law, and a PhD in a cognate area (or working towards).
  • Fellow of HEA (or working towards).
  • Strong subject knowledge in one or more of: Land Law; Equity & Trusts; Criminal Law; Tort including Personal Injury Law; Contract and Commercial Law.
  • Experience in teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to teach in an engaging and interactive way.
  • Ability to teach Employability modules is desirable.
  • Commitment to equality and diversity.
