Opportunity Overview

An opportunity has arisen to join research activities in our expanding Smart Urban Futures (SURF) research group in the area of Nature Based Solution and Urban Green Infrastructure. Professor Hisham Elkadi has recently been funded for several research projects, including the IGNITION Project, that require support in the collection, analysis of data collected from a number of IoT devices.

The role will require the applicant to work flexibly as part of a team to undertake a number of funded research projects in the field. The role will also require the applicant to work on his or her own initiative and identify opportunities for the group.  You should be able to work in a fast moving and strong team environment, with a requirement to support other colleagues.

The post is maternity cover for a period of 9 months on a part-time (0.5 FTE) basis.

Key Responsibilities

With supervision from Professor Hisham Elkadi, the Data Analyst is expected:

  • To lead on the design and monitoring of IGNTION digital dashboards and reports as required supporting the delivery of the Project strategic and operational requirements.
  • To ensure that reporting is presented in a timely and accurate way on digital and data reporting and insights to the IGNTION leadership team.
  • Liaise with colleagues across the University, acting as a point of expertise in relation to Green Infrastructure data and insights, including taking responsibility and participating in the creation of specific data reports.
  • To develop methods and solutions for acquiring IOT data into the platform using amongst others, API calls and MQTT feeds
  • To Develop and maintain a cloud platform for the assigned projects
