The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (MAA) is one of the nine University of Cambridge Museums and Botanic Garden (UCM). It is a sub-Department of the University Department of Social Anthropology and is a key resource for University teaching and research, particularly in collaboration with the Departments of Social Anthropology and Archaeology. Its world-class collections attract visiting researchers from all over the world and it maintains an active programme of temporary exhibitions and loans to major exhibitions within the UK and internationally. MAA's collections are Designated for their national and international importance.
MAA is seeking to appoint a fixed term a Studio and Digitisation Assistant for the Photographic Collections to support the digital access to its culturally and historically important collection of photographs and objects held at MAA. This role will combine a technical understanding with an appreciation of working with museum collections.
The responsibilities include working with the Manager of Photographic Collections for the studio photography of objects and digitisation of historic photographs according to professional standards of care, management of resulting data, and maintaining the studio. Duties also include responding to reproduction requests and training volunteers in digitising collections. It is highly desirable that the post-holder has a high level of skills with Adobe Bridge and PhotoShop, as well as proficiency with DSLR cameras.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance.
