This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Trainee Library Assistant to assist with all aspects of library work within The Museum of English Rural Life and the Special Collections Service.

Duties include participating in the staffing of the reading room and enquiry service, supporting the supervision of Special Collections materials during teaching sessions, assisting with the collation of statistics, processing new acquisitions, cataloguing and collection management tasks and contributing to social media.

You will have:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively and professionally with enquiries from researchers and work within the Library team.
  • Basic computer skills, such as word processing, online searching, using email and posting content on social media.
  • A good honours degree (first or second class) or equivalent.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical, organised and adaptable approach to tasks.
  • Commitment to following a postgraduate course/career in library and information services work, with a focus on special collections and rare books.
