We seek a researcher to investigate interactions between forcing, circulation and cloud feedback by running and analyzing large eddy simulations and cloud-system-resolving simulations of shallow and deep atmospheric convection.  The post will be based at the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading.  The research will be part of the multi-institute Circulation, Clouds and Climate Sensitivity (CIRCULATES) project, supported by NERC, which aims to as part of the larger NERC CloudSense programme on The Uncertainty in Climate Sensitivity due to Clouds. You will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research experience in a Physical or Mathematical Science
  • Knowledge of atmospheric processes related to convection and clouds and of general numerical modelling approaches in atmospheric science
  • Experience analysing numerical models of weather, climate, or related systems
  • Experience manipulating large data sets for scientific analysis
  • Good oral and written communication skills
