Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Regulatory Facilitator to join Imperial College London’s Research Governance and Integrity Team (RGIT). You will be based at South Kensington, London.

You will report directly to the RGIT Research Governance and Integrity Manager, and work with them to provide administrative and operational support, in partnership with other members of the RGIT, to ensure that non-CTIMP research is managed in line with the sponsorship requirements and regulation. You will be the first point of contact for researchers requiring research support. You will act as a liaison between the organisation and its partners and collaborators in NHS Trusts, Charities, Research Councils and other industrial partners to facilitate the review, set-up and co-ordination of NHS and non-NHS non-CTIMP research.

You will have a role in developing and supporting the research governance systems required throughout the organisation. You will help design and deliver training materials as required by the Research Governance and Integrity Manger and participate in the Sponsor’s audit provisions as necessary conducting sponsor audits of both CTIMP and non-CTIMP studies...

Duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities include providing administrative oversight, expert advice, and liaison for research studies, specifically focusing on non-drug studies. This includes the facilitation of:

  • Project initiation
  • Protocol design and review
  • Ethics and regulatory review
  • Indemnity and risk assessment
  • Regulatory registration and compliance
  • Project oversight and quality assurance (e.g. audit)
  • Tracking and management of Serious Adverse Events
  • Maintaining studies trackers, meetings agendas or minutes

You will assist in the administration of all non-CTIMPS sponsored through the Research Governance and Integrity Team (RGIT). This will involve liaison with the RGIT Research Governance and Integrity Manager to ensure accurate review and authorisation and interpretation (where applicable) of contracts, funding proposals and grants. You will ensure initial project submission, monitoring and ongoing amendments are submitted to quality and regulation.

You will also have the opportunity to develop engaging training materials and deliver training sessions to support colleagues and stakeholders, improving knowledge of submission and set up processes and regulations related to research projects.

Essential requirements

Those wishing to apply will have a university science or medical masters degree, or equivalent research experience. Understanding of NHS Trust and/or Higher Education Institute (HEI) environments, an in-depth understanding of clinical research regulations, research governance and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is of merit.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and be highly organised. This role requires the post holder to work on their own initiative and have the ability to support the oversight and administration of many projects at once.

The role is in a dedicated team, within a challenging and rewarding environment so candidates must have good time-management skills and demonstrate a strong team-work ethic. Applicants should be committed to continuous professional development in research governance and integrity to ensure that the RGIT are delivering an excellent service to the researchers of the University and NHS Trust.
