Our Student Services department provides support, advice and guidance to our student population to enable them to flourish and succeed during their time at university and beyond. Our services include mental health and wellbeing services, support for those with a health condition, impairment or disability, faith and spiritual support, bursaries and hardship funds, enhancing the international student experience and student disciplinary and conduct matters. 

Working as a member of the Disability Inclusion Services team, you will work to deliver high quality, customer-focused advice, support and guidance to students at the University of Plymouth. 

You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of working with disabled people. An extensive knowledge of the Equality Act is essential as is an understanding of the Higher Education sector and funding routes such as the Disabled Students Allowance. Your professional experience should be matched by personal qualities of empathy, integrity, patience and sensitivity. You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of different stakeholders, both internally and externally. 

You will manage a caseload of disabled students and support them from admissions all the way through to graduation via information meetings, pre-arrival induction sessions, one-to-one appointments, creating and updating Student Support Documents, and ongoing support groups throughout the academic year. 

Supporting disabled students is a key priority for the University and we are focused on providing support throughout the student journey to ensure successful academic outcomes. You will need to be able to build excellent relationships with other departments to support the University with its commitment to helping our disabled students to succeed.

This is a part-time, permanent position, working 22.2 hours a week. 

Remote working is available up to 1 day a week.
