As Internal Communications Manager you will lead communications campaigns and initiatives to engage our staff community and build a sense of belonging and pride.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide insights, information and ideas to senior managers and leaders in Communications and the University to advise and guide on the development and delivery of an internal communications strategy and plans to reflect the University’s objectives to build an informed and engaged staff community. 
  • Support the Director of Communications and the Senior Internal Communications Manager with the development of the Communications Strategy, and be responsible for delivering the internal communications elements of this strategy. 
  • Initiate, lead and manage a range of internal communications campaigns to engage and involve colleagues in University initiatives, achievements, progress and issues as required. Brief, create and oversee relevant and engaging content to support these campaigns and embrace the University’s identity and brand. Monitor and feedback on the effectiveness of these activities to stakeholders across the University, including senior leaders. 
  • Support the University’s engagement with colleagues in response to critical incidents, by managing staff engagement around incidents, liaising with Communications team colleagues and the Rapid Response team as required. 
  • Manage the University's communication channels including the new staff portal. This includes creating strategies and processes for updating, retiring and managing content and migrating content from other sites. The postholder will liaise with the development team, supervising and supporting colleagues inputting content and training and supporting a team of Super Users from across all University departments, and report to the ULT project sponsor on progress and challenges.
