At Leeds Trinity University, we aspire to make a difference to the people, the professions and the places that we serve, and we are looking for talented and enthusiastic people to join our University community. We are ranked top in Yorkshire for learning community and pride ourselves on being the University where our students are a name, not just a number. The University has a distinctive, employability-focused educational offer and works closely with employers to address the skills needs of today’s workforce. Applications are invited for the following post:
Student Achievement Adviser
Hours of Work: One position full time, 35 hours a week; one position 0.8FTE, 28 hours a week.
Contract type: Permanent (both posts)
Salary: £30,487 (pro rata, per annum)
We are looking to recruit two Student Achievement Advisers to work with individual students and with groups to deliver academic skills tuition and support. The successful candidate will report to the Student Achievement Manager and will work alongside programme/departmental teams, including personal tutors, to encourage and support academic skill development.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, innovative, and versatile in their approach, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships with students and staff.
While there may be some limited opportunities to work from home, the role is primarily based on-campus at both the Horsforth and City Centre campuses.
Applicants will need a good honours degree and a teaching qualification. Experience of tuition in Higher Education and a good, up-to-date knowledge of how different students learn is essential. As well as working with traditional undergraduate students, the role will involve supporting mature learners, apprentices, and foundation level students. Experience of working with students from widening participation backgrounds would be advantageous. In addition to English and literacy skill development, applications from those with experience of supporting learners with statistics, data handling and statistical software are welcome.
Employees of the University have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous contributory pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, on-site sport and fitness centre membership, car park permit scheme and Employee Assistance Programme. We also operate a free shuttle bus to Horsforth station and have an externally owned day nursery facility on campus, along with plenty of shopping, leisure, and travel discounts available. Our health and wellbeing offer provides the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities and includes high quality health articles relating to current national and University specific initiatives.
This advert will close as soon as we receive a suitable number of applications. Interviews are expected to take place mid-August.
