We have an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to join the School of Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences Faculty.

We are looking for an Associate Lecturer to teach the module:

  • Quantitative Skills and Experimental Design, 3 hours per week, Thursday 16th January to Thursday 20th March. This is for a 15 credit Level 4 module, taught in the Spring term and you will deliver one instance of this module in the evening. The work would require 30 contact hours of teaching as well as organisation, communication with students, student support and marking. The module syllabus has been designed and the teaching materials already exist although you will have some freedom to refine these and devise the assessments, subject to the specifications in place.

To be our Associate Lecturer, you will;

  • Have a PhD in physical or biological sciences, or a related discipline, a sound knowledge of basic mathematics, statistics and physics and have experience of teaching at an undergraduate level.
  • Have a proven ability to deliver material effectively in a classroom setting is desirable.
  • Experience of, or willingness to develop, a range of assessment types is required.
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills and a willingness to engage within a HyFlex learning environment with elements of both in-person teaching and online materials.
  • Evidence of supporting students from a range of backgrounds to achieve their potential is highly desirable. The role will also require you to work effectively as part of a busy team and also independently.

Remuneration

Starting rate £66.70 per hour, inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay for contact hours worked.

Payment is based on hourly rate depending on length of service. The hourly rate is Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
