The Department of Medicine is the largest Department in the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge and it is spread over a number of sites on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Research is our major focus, extending from basic biomedical research through to disease mechanisms and clinical translation.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Professional Service Team for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Communication Manager, who is an adept communicator with a passion for translating intricate concepts into captivating narratives. The position, led by the Department of Medicine Business & Operations Manager, will directly report to the Deputy Business Operations Manager and is available on a full-time basis, for a period of 3 years in the first instance.
The Communications Manager will play a key role in developing a and implementing an effective multi-channel communications strategy, in order to raise the profile and impact on research activity to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
You will apply excellent skills in channels management, content development and staff engagement, developing strong working relationships with colleagues in the Department. In addition, you will review and enhance the Department's wider communications activities with a range of external and internal stakeholders, including departmental and Institutional websites.
You will work closely with and be supported by the Departments Business Operations Management to deploy business analytics tools and techniques to support departmental strategic proposals, using data to convey key messages with visual evidence based storytelling.
You will have experience of a broad range of communications disciplines e.g. media, reputation management, stakeholder liaison etc., as well as experience of publicity writing; excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will have a good understanding of social networking tools and their application, as well as excellent editorial, proofreading and report writing skills.
