We are currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, customer-focused Library Assistant to work at the University of Cambridge Medical Library.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the library team at Medical Library, supporting students and staff from the School of Clinical Medicine and staff working at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Reporting to the Library Manager, you are working as part of the enquiry support team. This role is the first interaction users have with our library service. You will provide information and support to library users. The role forms an integral part of the main service desk operations and is part of a regular rota (including an evening or a Saturday afternoon each week.). You will be helping to ensure that the library offers a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The role holder will be part of the Collection Management Team enabling resources, both printed and electronic to be available and discoverable to library users. 

The role holder will have a helpful and supportive attitude, and be a good team worker with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills. The Library environment has extensive learning and development opportunities, and it is expected that the role holder will display a keen interest in learning. Applicants should be user-focused and able to provide a friendly and efficient service at all times.

The working pattern extends across 2 weeks. An example pattern:

week 1: Wednesday full day (09:00-17:00), Thursday afternoon and evening (12:45-20:00), Friday(09:00-17:00); week 2: Wednesday(09:00-17:00), Friday(09:00-17:00), Saturday afternoon (12:45-17:00).

While the Thursday and Saturday shifts are essential, we have some flexibility with the remaining hours.
