Faculty / Directorate

The Strategic Planning and Insight Directorate at DMU plays a crucial role in shaping the university's future by providing expert analysis, strategic insights, and robust data management. Our team is committed to enhancing institutional performance through effective planning, monitoring, and reporting. We work closely with various departments to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and institutional goals. As part of this dedicated Directorate, the Statutory Returns and Assurance team is instrumental in managing the university’s compliance with key regulatory frameworks and optimising our data governance practices.

Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Statutory Returns and Assurance to lead our efforts in regulatory reporting and data governance. This pivotal role involves overseeing the accurate submission of statutory returns to bodies such as the Office for Students (OfS) and the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA/JISC).

You will ensure that our data reporting is not only compliant but also strategically advantageous, enhancing DMU’s standing in league tables and securing essential funding. You will spearhead the implementation of our Data Governance programme, collaborating with stakeholders to drive improvements in data quality and structure across the university.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of higher education data systems and extensive experience with statistical reporting requirements. You will be adept at managing complex data sets using tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Alteryx. As a strategic leader, you will provide expert guidance on data quality issues, influencing decision-making at the highest levels. Your ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders will be essential in optimising our statutory returns and enhancing our institutional performance. Additionally, you will possess strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and developing a high-performing team dedicated to excellence in data governance and assurance.
