About us

The Student Funding Office (SFO) is responsible for coordinating the provision of funding support and advice to both current and prospective UCL students. The SFO administer all UCL’s central scholarship and bursary schemes and provide welfare support via hardship grants and loans alongside a dedicated funding advisory service. They are also responsible for maintaining the relationships with key funding partners and for the development of UCL’s financial support offer for students.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a colleague to join the UCL Student Funding Office team as a Student Funding Manager for our Undergraduate team.

The postholder will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operational delivery of the Undergraduate Student Funding (UGSF) service and for assisting with its strategic development. They will manage the work of the UGSF team (five additional staff) and will be responsible for specific funding schemes - including the main UCL UG Bursary, U.S. Federal Loans (for all study levels), and hardship funds. Additional responsibilities include co-ordinate a student-facing service, organising and participating in events, maintaining up-to-date resources covering student finance, assessing the impact of changes to DfE student finance policy, and maintaining strong links with both internal and external stakeholders and professional networks.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site.

About you

The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing a student-facing service and must have an in-depth working knowledge of student finance schemes for both UK and International students.

You will possess excellent IT and numeracy skills, combined with excellent written and oral communication skills, and will have experience of working in a busy customer-facing office environment. You will be expected to build rapport and be comfortable working with others across different cultures and backgrounds. Previous experience of working in the UK Higher Education sector would be highly advantageous.
