The UCL School of Pharmacy is located within the Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) and is one of five areas that constitute the faculty the others being the Division of Biosciences, the Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at UCL, the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neurocircuits and Behaviour and the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit.

About the role

This is a full-time permanent role.

The Associate professor (Teaching and Research) is a senior member of the research department of Practice and Policy. They will in collaboration with others, lead the delivery of the professional and clinical elements of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs which are designed for pharmacists in the UK and elsewhere.

The Research Department offers an integrated Clinically Enhanced Pharmacist Independent Prescribing (CEPIP) course developed to enable pharmacists to acquire history taking and physical examination as part of their the UCL independent prescribing training. The department is also reasonable for the quality assurance, accreditation, and monitoring of experimental and learning sites for the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) and postgraduate professional pharmacy programs.

The successful candidate is expected to lead the CEPIP Course for both undergraduates and postgraduates and to lead or support the innovation and transformational changes in curriculum development, course design and the development of teaching materials on the integrated courses for MPharm undergraduate program and/or the taught postgraduate programs.

About you

The successful candidate will be a UK registered pharmacist and experienced educator, you will the lead on the design of innovative/transformational changes to the UGT/PGT pharmacy practice curriculum, identifying suitable teaching methodologies and techniques. You will also lead and be responsible for designated courses/modules, lectures and workshops.

You will develop and design teaching materials including handouts and course work related to curriculum development. Proactively engage in regular curriculum review and development, contribute to the assurance and enhancement of teaching quality and the student experience, whilst contributing to the strategic development of new pharmacy courses. You will lead and be responsible for designing and implementing assessment methods for registered pharmacists, including examinations and course work and providing feedback. 

You will be responsible for the quality, audit and other external assessments for the assurance and enhancement of teaching quality of UGT/PGT practice programmes in collaboration with external colleagues in hospital pharmacy sites.
