The University is seeking a Deputy Head of Assurance to play a pivotal role in enhancing the University’s assurance and risk management activities. This is one of two new roles in the assurance team.
The role holder will deputise for, and report to, the Head of Assurance on all aspects of the University’s assurance activities. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on audit and assurance matters, monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and lead on the development of aspects of the University’s assurance framework. This includes managing the University’s annual assurance statements process to provide assurance over devolved activities that ensure compliance with legal or regulatory requirements. Alongside these duties, they will also lead the development of an assurance and compliance framework for the University.
The successful candidate will have experience of contributing to or working within a risk, audit, compliance or assurance function in a large organisation. You will need excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate and liaise confidently with members of the University at all levels. You will also need strong organisational and project management skills, and the ability to prioritise work to meet regulatory and other deadlines. You will be educated to first degree level (or equivalent), ideally with a relevant professional qualification.
Your application, along with a covering letter, should clearly set out how you meet the criteria listed in the person profile (the skills and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted based upon these criteria.
The University of Cambridge is committed to supporting our staff to thrive both professionally and personally. We aim to support a good work/life balance, whilst retaining the positive aspects of our unique in-person environment and culture. Most of our team work in a hybrid fashion, with an average of 2-3 days per week being office based (pro rata for part-time staff). The frequency and pattern of the remote elements of the role can be discussed with the recruiting manager.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records) check and a security check.
