The University of Aberdeen is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across its staff and student communities. EDI is at the heart of Aberdeen 2040 (the University’s strategic plan) and we are working on an extensive range of initiatives to implement it fully. The Senior Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Partner will be critical to supporting and accelerating this work, across all the legally protected characteristics and beyond, to create fully inclusive learning and working environments.
This will therefore be a varied role, with competing priorities and deadlines. It will also be a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to make a positive difference to University policy and initiatives as they relate to EDI. Support and development will be provided, although the candidate is expected to bring a solid background in EDI work.
The post will be based in the Human Resources Organisational Development (OD) Team. Colleagues in OD take forward organisational priorities such as EDI (including driving forward charter marks such as Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter), professional and personal training and development (including coaching and mentoring schemes) and benchmarking activities such as the biennial Staff Survey.
The role is wide-ranging and covers the increasingly expanding remit of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across staff and student areas and all functions of the University. The post-holder will be expected to provide advice and guidance on equality, diversity and inclusion issues to senior management, professional and academic staff, campus trade unions and student representatives.
The post-holder will have a particular responsibility for progressing and managing the Institutional Athena Swan action plan and submissions as well as supporting specific Schools with their submissions.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7, £45,585 - £54,395 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. Consideration will be given to making an appointment at Grade 6 (£37,099 - £44,263 per annum) for a candidate who meets the educational criteria and demonstrates the potential to develop into undertaking the full role.
