Department of Computing, Imperial College London, is looking to employ a Director of Postgraduate Studies (DPGS) to lead, design and implement our Postgraduate programme.

DPGS will provide leadership of the PG educational portfolio, its evolution, and delivery. Successful candidate will serve on departmental committees – including the appointment Panels for T&L and the Teaching Operations and PG Strategy Committees, manage and offer advice to the HoD regarding  curriculum and strategic reviews of departmental PG education and working on implementation of agreed actions. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Providing support to the HoD and his/her nominees the formulation and revision of the department’s educational strategy
  • Supporting the HoD in running all aspects of PG education in the Department.
  • Providing information to the HoD, as required, for PG staff for relevant pay reviews and promotions.
  • Assessing and supporting the development of new and continuing teaching initiatives including outreach activities in PG education, in line with departmental education strategy in liaison with the DUGS and HoD.
  • Providing relevant information as required to the HoD, Departmental Operations Manager (DOM), and others to forecast PG admissions targets during budget planning rounds and to monitor such targets through admission cycles.
  • Representing the Department at relevant Faculty and College level meetings and participating in consultations and initiatives as required.
  • Assigning duties to all teaching staff of departmental PG education, liaising, and coordinating with the DUGS and others – as necessary.
  • Regularly attending and co-organizing the departmental Staff/Student Committee and meeting PG Student Representatives.

Successful candidate will have a Degree in Computing or a related discipline and a Fellowship (SFHEA) or similar. Experience with management of student wellbeing and in managing higher-education programme studies are essential.
