The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages is seeking to appoint a highly organised Graduate Studies Officer to join our friendly team.
About the Role
This is a critical role in the Faculty’s operation – overseeing the postgraduate assessment and admissions activities. Working with the Education Manager, Director of Graduate Studies and Director of Masters Courses, this post oversees and co-ordinates the administration of the Faculty’s postgraduate taught and research programmes.
It is a complex role involving both strategic high level advice and practical, day to day operational activities. The individual is the primary point of contact for all post graduate queries in the Faculty.
The Faculty admits approximately 60 taught graduate students each year to its one-year MSt and two-year MPhil programmes (MSt/MPhil Modern Languages; MSt/MPhil Slavonic Studies; MSt Yiddish Studies). Faculty members also contribute to the MSt Film Aesthetics, MSt Women’s Studies, MSt Medieval Studies, MSt in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation and the MSt Late Antique and Byzantine Studies. There are currently approximately 140 students pursuing a graduate research degree (DPhil) within the Faculty.
Individuals will be expected and encouraged to regularly engage with training & development and/or continuous improvement activities
About You
You will require considerable experience of working in a customer-focussed arena with the proven ability to build relationships. You will have experience of working with business processes and systems, as well as proposing improvements. You will have strong communication skills, being able to exercise discretion and judgement.
You will display high attention to detail and accuracy, strong verbal and written communications skills and be able to work well, both independently and within a team.
