An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and professional individual to take on a newly created role within Keele University’s Legal, Governance & Compliance team as a Fire Safety Technician. Legal, Governance & Compliance sits within the Chief Operating Officer’s Office and is responsible for advising the University on legal issues and information compliance; providing oversight and assurance of corporate governance activity; and maintaining regulatory and legislative compliance in the areas of immigration compliance and Health and Safety. 

The role offers candidates an excellent opportunity to provide support to the service, mainly within the Health and Safety Team. In doing this, you will contribute to the maintenance and improvements to the University’s compliance position and a culture of continuous improvement by performing and co-ordinating various essential services, as well as providing support to members of the team and the wider University community.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the Legal, Governance & Compliance team and will aid the Fire Safety Manager in assuring statutory compliance in fire safety by undertaking statutory monitoring, testing and inspection of fire safety systems across the University campus. 

You will have experience in the workings of fire alarm panels, fire call points and performing fire alarm testing as well as co-ordinating and performing planned fire evacuation drills. You will also have experience in performing and recording fire safety inspections.
