Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Sustainable Healthcare at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS). The post is being offered by BSMS in association with University Hospitals Sussex, where the successful applicant will hold an honorary contract.
The fellow will support the work of the sustainable healthcare group at Brighton & Sussex Medical School. The post is offered initially for six months but may be extended.
The post is specifically to look at the safety and effectiveness of UV-C light and hydrogen peroxide to enable reuse of airway devices in anaesthetic practice. The post would be suitable for someone with a clinical background in anaesthesia (those with no background in anaesthetic practice are ineligible). The post holder is expected to have a basic understanding of airway anaesthetic devices, microbiology, and carbon footprinting, although further training will be provided.
You will be supervised by Professor Mahmood Bhutta, and Dr James Price, both at Brighton & Sussex Medical School.
The post is for 40 hours per week, and we support flexible working. The post holder may continue in clinical practice for up to one day per week, and additional on-call, where this does not compromise their commitment to the academic post. Any payment for clinical work would need to be negotiated by the post holder and is not guaranteed.
Please contact Professor Mahmood Bhutta at m.bhutta@bsms.ac.uk for informal enquiries.
The University is committed to equality and valuing diversity, and applications are particularly welcomed from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, and Mathematics (STEMM) at Sussex.
