University of Plymouth is renowned for the high quality of its research and teaching, and has recognised that the physical setting in which this takes place is critical. The University is a multi-site operation with a sizeable proportion of its activities taking place on or close to the main campus in Plymouth.
We have a vacancy for a full time Energy Manager within the Estates & Facilities directorate, reporting into the Head of Sustainability. The role covers a range of activities ensuring that utilities are managed effectively and efficiently across the site. This includes leading the design, development, evaluation and implementation of energy and carbon efficiency plans to ensure value for money, mitigation of risk and effective and sustainable use of University resources. You will provide specialist knowledge and expertise, to deliver and develop a customer focused service that supports the strategic direction of the Estate Strategy. You will manage energy use across the site, including the use of energy management software, metering and sub metering plans, and identify utility efficiency schemes to reduce energy and water consumption, including managing contracts and tariffs. This will also include acting as a key stakeholder in the University’s path to net zero.
Your background will ideally be in energy management preferably from large, multi-building sites. You will have experience of: interrogating monitoring and targeting software; building management system optimisation; and delivering utility reduction plans, including monitoring data and reporting on progress against targets. Consequently, a strong technical background, and ability to identify areas for utility savings across a range of buildings is required as well as inputting into maintenance and capital plans to ensure energy and water efficiency is a priority. You will have experience of contract management, ensuring price efficiency for utilities including monitoring and checking invoicing and meter read data. You will be required to work with the wider Estates & Facilities team to provide advice on energy and utilities when required.
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
