Job Summary
The Institute for Security Science and Technology (ISST) was established in 2008 as one of Imperial College’s founding Global Challenge Institutes; focusing on interdisciplinary science to tackle the world’s most challenging societal problems. Within the domain of security, the ISST acts as the focal point for multidisciplinary activities, a convenor of choice for its stakeholders, a hub for the formulation, development and application of novel scientific solutions and a trusted Institute for the provision of independent scientific thought leadership, education, and advice. Core to the ISST activities is the Centre for Excellence for Active Resilience and Security (CARS), established by ISST in 2023 to serve as research, innovation and engagement hub for societal resilience across Imperial.
The ISST interfaces with a wide range of public and private sector stakeholders. It acts as a portal for scientific innovation that is aligned with the College’s strategic intent to catalyse leading-edge, high impact interdisciplinary research resulting in solutions of value to the wider population. It provides a trusted partner for government and industry, helping translate capability requirements into research programmes.
As the Stakeholder Engagement, Innovation and Enterprise Manager you will develop new initiatives, lead and oversee strategic internal and external partnerships that promotes the Institute’s vision and mission. Alongside the ISST leadership you will devise and implement a strategy to develop cross sector impactful activities through collaboration and commercialisation to extend the global reputation and reach of the ISST, you will pioneer new business areas and ways of partnering that span ideation, growth and acceleration, delivering challenging complex projects. You will support ISST staff in identifying areas/activities for innovation and enterprise and develop and implement relevant policies, strategies.
Duties and responsibilities
A core element of the role will be to manage and enhance the ISST’s innovation ecosystem, strengthen links with industry and government whilst ensuring the wider benefits to local communities, London and beyond, that the partnerships are well-understood by key decision-makers and stakeholders, including government, corporate and business leaders, partner organisations, prospects and donors, staff and students and local communities. You will do this through generating and coordinating a programme of engagement that includes a range of targeted stakeholder engagement activities, new innovative projects and high-profile events and visits.
You will demonstrate experience and ability in a wide range of competencies including relationship management, project management, engagement with commercial partners/customers. Ideally, you will have worked in a partnerships role at HEI or relevant Industry setting.
