The UK branch of Science for Ukraine (scienceforukraine.eu) organisation runs the UK-Ukraine academic mentoring scheme as a rapid response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. academics4ukraine.co.uk/uk-mentoring-scheme.
We aim to support colleagues from Ukrainian universities directly affected by the invasion to allow them to continue their academic careers and develop international profiles and research networks within their professional expertise. The scheme aims to provide individualised, subject-specific support to help academics navigate UK academia to establish new research collaboration within UK and international communities.
With the objective to help the Ukrainian higher education sector, Cormack Consultancy Group alongside Universities UK have come up with the model called Twinning which has allowed international, in particular British universities, to offer tailored support to each Ukrainian university. The Twinning Scheme is an institution-to-institution collaboration model aimed at supporting universities in Ukraine by creating meaningful partnerships between Ukrainian and international higher education institutions. In addition to supporting individual requests, within the current mentoring project we are currently extending the mentoring scheme to synchronously promote academic mentoring between twinned universities with partnership agreement. The list of pairs is available at Cormack Consultancy Group website: www.twinningukraine.com/signed-partnerships.
We are looking for highly organised and motivated individuals to join our team as part-time Project Officers to support the Science for Ukraine-UK Academic Mentoring Programme. As a Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a small-scale Academic Mentoring programme, pairing Ukrainian Academics with UK counterparts and supporting the mentoring scheme between twinned universities in the UK and Ukraine. In addition to that you will support the UK-Ukraine research twinning programme that aims to integrate Ukrainian academics into the international research network. This position requires knowledge of the Higher Education System in the UK and an understanding of academic/research career paths, excellent email communication skills, independence, and the ability to efficiently search through UK academic databases. This Project Officer role will ideally suit professional services staff/Postdoctoral researchers/PGR students at the University of Liverpool, with an interest in international partnerships.
The posts are available from 1st August 2024 until 31st October 2025.
