Are you passionate about neurodevelopmental research? Join us at the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development (CBCD) at Birkbeck, University of London, as a Postdoctoral Researcher. We are a leading research centre dedicated to understanding brain and cognitive development, and we are looking for a talented individual to lead our newly funded projects.

The post involves leading neurocognitive and brain imaging assessments on toddlers who were born prematurely. The Medical Research Council funded study examines sensory processing in infants/toddlers with an elevated likelihood of neurodevelopmental conditions by virtue of premature birth.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will:

  • Lead neurocognitive and brain imaging assessments (e.g. EEG, eye tracking, wearable tech) on infant/toddlers born prematurely.
  • Collect, process, and analyse EEG, NIRS, eyetracking, and behavioural data.
  • Supervise and train research assistants and students.
  • Coordinate projects across different staff members and sites.
  • Write up research for publication and communicate findings to various audiences.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher who has:

  • Experience with neuroimaging (EEG, NIRS) and neurocognitive measures (eye tracking, behavioural) in infants and toddlers.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills applicable to neurocognitive measures and an interest in neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • An emerging publication record.
  • A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.

The project is conducted with the Medawar Pain and Somatosensory Labs at UCL (Dr Lorenzo Fabrizi) and the Neonatal Units at UCLH (Dr Judith Meeks) with whom the post holder will collaborate.

The Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development (CBCD) incorporates a group of researchers studying brain and psychological development in typically and atypically developing babies and toddlers. We use behavioural testing and brain imaging methods to further our understanding and contribute to the field. We are part of Birkbeck, University of London, a world-renowned institution.

If you are a dedicated researcher with a passion for neurodevelopmental studies, we encourage you to apply for the Postdoctoral Researcher position at CBCD. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to ground breaking research and work with a team of leading experts. Apply now and take the next step in your research career!

Remuneration
£42,365 rising to £48,424 per annum. The salary, Grade 7, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale.

Birkbeck offers a competitive salary and pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements and some of the most generous benefits in the HE sector, all while being located right in the heart of Central London.
