We are excited to announce an opening for a Research Assistant at Birkbeck, University of London. This role is part of an MRC Career Development Award project led by Dr Matilde Vaghi, focusing on 'Precision Psychiatry for Compulsivity'.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant team in the Vaghi Lab and contribute to cutting-edge research in human cognitive computational neuroscience.

As a Research Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the design and programming of behavioural and neuroimaging experiments.
  • Coordinating projects to ensure timely progress from idea to publication.
  • Assisting with lab-based administration, including managing web-based content and writing ethics applications.
  • Preparing and analysing data for research dissemination and presentation at international conferences.
  • Writing up empirical, theoretical and review articles for publication.
  • Coordinating communications and study visits with study participants for lab-based studies.
  • Supporting neuroimaging sessions using fMRI with human participants.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for all research and study-related queries.

The ideal candidate for the Research Assistant role should have:

  • Knowledge about conducting online experiments and basic Neuroimaging and Cognitive Neuroscience.
  • Experience with programming with Python, JavaScript and proficiency with programming, statistical data analysis, and data visualisation in MATLAB R in the context of cognitive neuroscience.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, both in practical settings and theoretical ones.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and good inter-personal skills.
  • Prior Experience with human neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI.
  • A first-class honours degree and/or Masters in computational/cognitive neuroscience, cognitive science, engineering, experimental psychology or related discipline.

Remuneration
£37,143 rising to £42,365 per annum. The salary, Grade 6, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale.
