About the role

The UCL Institute of the Americas is seeking to fill a Lecturer (Teaching) position in United States politics. The position is fixed-term for one year to cover a member of academic staff who will be on parental leave. The role holder will carry out teaching and administration within the Institute of the Americas, especially in the area of the politics of the United States. We particularly welcome applicants with research and teaching interests that complement our existing provision. We expect the post-holder to convene our core undergraduate taught training module AMER0039: Introduction to Politics. They will convene a one-term postgraduate taught option (either AMER0045: States of Exception: US State Building through its Exceptional Geographies or a module of their own design) and two one-term undergraduate optional modules (AMER0048: The Politics of the United States and AMER0052: Gender, Politics and Society of the Americas). They will contribute to other team-taught modules and take on administrative responsibilities in the department.

The salary offered is UCL Grade 8 (£51,474-£52,850) per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

About you

Applicants must have a PhD in Political Science or related subject. They should have proven experience of teaching and assessment at university level in US politics, and the ideal candidate will have research and/or teaching expertise in the history of American political development and/or gender and politics.
