UCL Public Art and Cultural & Community Engagement team is part of the newly established Pro-Provost East Office which manages the operations and vision for the UCL East Campus. The Community Engagement Managers are a part of team delivering public engagement, community, and cultural programming.

About the role

The Cultural and Community Engagement Manager will work with The Head of Public Art the Cultural & Community Engagement to develop and advocate for collaborations between UCL staff and students and east London cultural and community organizations and individuals. The successful candidate will broker community and public engagement activity and manage the delivery of the community engagement work. As such, they will be accountable for the management of work that engages in two spheres: internally, embedding best practice across UCL departments and coordinating an internal practitioner’s network; externally, maintaining and extending relationships with key stakeholders including local community groups and cultural partners across the four Olympic boroughs.

Hybrid working is available in this role, but we envision that the successful candidate will work from our offices at UCL East (Stratford) 4 days per week.

About you

As Cultural and Community Engagement Manager, you will have experience of nurturing sustainable relationships while developing community-based projects with a diverse range of community groups, voluntary sector organisations and agencies, and local government. Experience of community engagement in geographical areas with diverse demographics and high levels of deprivation is essential.

You have experience leading arts-based engagement activities, preferably with a focus on learning and development for the artists involved. You have knowledge and understanding of best practice in public engagement in the Higher Education sector.
